Tot Trays and Toys
Preview of trays with close up photos can be seen here, plus the post discusses how we organize our learning materials for the week.
make-a-card, glitter glue and gems, scratch-a-butterfly, chopsticks and erasers, do a dot markers, stamping
I updated the trays later in the week with the following:
glitter markers, watercolor painting, scratch-a-snail, stickers with doilies
Some Tot Toys:
shape puzzle cookies, alphabet puzzle book, caterpillar floor puzzle, book colorforms, opening and closing practice bucket, stretchy bugs, markers, crayons, colored pencils, hole puncher, mini coloring book, note pad, various papers
And I put this out later in the week:
Madalyn loves glitter glue and she had a blast working on this little art project. She used her glitter glue to glue on little gems to decorate her butterfly and it turned out beautiful (she was only part of the way done when I took this photo).
Madalyn was busy writing out directions this week. Writing directions started earlier this week when I was writing directions on how to get to the reindeer farm.
Making cards using fun flower and insect stickers. Stickers included gem stickers, foam stickers, puffy stickers, shiney ones, and regular ones as well.
Practicing putting things in small spaces and doing so well at it. We have a couple travel sized versions of games that she enjoys.
Caterpillars to Butterflies
They still look like they did last weekend.
Hopefully later this upcoming week, we’ll have butterflies.
Check out all our posts on their development here.
Field Trips
On Monday, we went to the reindeer farm where Madalyn was able to feed and pet reindeer and moose. We also saw a bison and some elk. Madalyn had a great time at the farm and really enjoyed seeing all the animals close up.
On Tuesday, there was a kick off for our area’s Imagination Library program. They had several activities for young kids to enjoy including coloring, stamping, and playing with wedgit blocks.
If you haven’t looked into this program yet, check it out. Basically, kids under five in the program receive, in the mail, one new book each month. No income requirements and it’s free to join. Wonderful program and I’m so glad we (finally) have it in our area.
Visiting the library is always a big hit. Madalyn could spend hours reading books, playing with the stuffed animals, doing puzzles, and coloring. The entire downstairs is designated just for kids and it’s so kid (even little bitty) friendly. We really enjoy our library and can’t wait for story time to start again this fall.
And lots of visits to the playground that included plenty of playtime, releasing of energy, making new friends, and nature observations.
