Welcome to kindergarten!

Almost two years have gone by, and a lot has changed.  This past week, Madalyn started kindergarten here at home with mommy as her teacher.

What we read together this week:
The House at Pooh Corner by Milne (1st 2 chapters)
Richard Scarry’s Please and Thank you Book
Big Backyard November 2011 (1st article)

Independent Reading:
Biscuit
Biscuit
This was a short week as we started on Wednesday and we didn't feel great on Thursday and Friday.

***
We started out our day with some family time at the local gymnastics center.  They have an open gym time for young kids each Wednesday morning.

***
Then a few first day photographs.
Madalyn was super excited to wear her new "6 year old clothes."

***
I picked up a few little fun things for Madalyn's first day.  There are some cute owl post it notes inside the bucket along with the pencils and some flower stickers she used to decorate her bucket.  Madalyn will be able to keep her bucket on her school desk with her.

***
Writing numbers 1-30.
***
We played appletters together... a fun word play game.
***
Reading a book.  She also got her "book baggie" that she'll keep the books she can read independently along with her reading strategy card.
***
The next day, we had brunch with some friends before dropping daddy off at the airport.  She ended up falling asleep on the way home.

 ***
We played a sight word game together and read some books together.
***
And she painted a ton of these paint with water pages.
***
A look ahead:
We are going to study different types of animals and habitats, creating different
patterns, and learning about using our five senses.
We'll continue reading a variety of different books and writing narratives.
